Man killed in Lakeland after pickup truck left road and crashed into utility pole

LAKELAND, Fla. — A 24-year-old man died after his pickup truck crashed in Lakeland Saturday morning, authorities said.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) said around 1:50 a.m., deputies arrived at the intersection of Pipkin Road and Old Medulla Road after receiving a report of a crash.

PCSO said at the scene they found the 24-year-old man suffering from serious injuries. The Polk County Fire Department took the man to a nearby hospital, but he later died from his injuries.

During the investigation, deputies said the man was driving a 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck when he went off the road and struck a metal utility pole. The 24-year-old driver did not appear to be wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

PCSO said the crash remains under investigation.
