Domestic Aid Arrested for Murder of 64-Year-Old in South Delhi

The 25-year-old young man previously worked in the same building.

New Delhi:

Southern District Police arrested a 25-year-old man named Abhay Sikarwar in connection with the recent murder at Panchsheel Park in Malviya Nagar. The accused, originally from Madhya Pradesh, was arrested from Moti Nagar, where he was working as a cook.

Police tracked down the accused following an extensive investigation that included analysis of footage from more than 500 CCTV cameras, electronic surveillance and technical evidence.

The victim, 64-year-old Rohit Kumar, was brutally murdered at his home in Panchsheel Park on November 25.

According to the police, the accused was working as a domestic servant on the third floor of the same building four years ago, which gave him detailed information about the layout of the house.

Police also stated that the accused was in financial difficulties to pay off his debts.

On the night of the incident, Sikarwar entered the victim’s house late at night with the intention of robbing him. But when the man woke up, his plan went awry, leading to a physical altercation. In the ensuing argument, Sikarwar fatally attacked the victim with a knife.

A detailed investigation into the incident continues.

Earlier today, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal visited the man’s family along with Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Kejriwal stated that the victim’s family is in deep shock as the reason behind the incident remains unclear.

“Senior citizens in Delhi are in distress and businessmen are receiving extortion calls. There are gunfights in the city. Crime is rampant in Delhi. I want to ask Amit Shah; when will you take action against this? Since he became the Home Minister.” The AAP chief said the situation in Delhi has gone from bad to worse.
