HOUSTON– Texas authorities confirm one man has now been charged A mother and her child were stabbed to death.

Kendrick Rayvon Fisher, 29, faces a capital murder charge.

The stabbing happened shortly after 3 a.m. local time Friday at a west Houston apartment on Richmond Avenue, the Houston Police Department said.

According to HPD, someone alerted officers that the woman and child were being held hostage in the apartment.

When officers arrived, they said they found Fisher asleep on the couch.

After conducting a security sweep of the apartment, police said the 28-year-old mother and her 2-year-old son were found with multiple stab wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of his arrest, HPD said Fisher had injuries consistent with a physical fight, as well as blood on his clothing.

He was sent to the Harris County Jail.

According to police, the identities of the victims are pending notification of family members by the medical examiner.

It’s unclear what Fisher’s relationship was to the victims.
