Police say 12-year-old boy stole his grandfather’s car and drove 100 miles

A 12-year-old boy who stole his grandfather’s car and drove nearly 100 miles is now in police custody, Washington State authorities said Wednesday.

The unidentified boy allegedly stole the car from his grandfather in Issaquah, Washington, according to Grant County authorities. shared on social media. The boy had “a connection” to a town in Grant County in eastern Washington state, so Issaquah police notified county deputies that the boy could drive there.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office Motor Traffic Unit began searching for the car after receiving the call. They found the vehicle parked on the curb at around 10.20am. The sheriff’s office said the boy then allegedly “led deputies on (a) brief pursuit.”

The sheriff’s office said the boy was in custody at the Chelan County Juvenile Justice Center on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and felony evading.
