The man named Raj Sidpara, of Indian origin, was sentenced to life imprisonment. United Kingdom The trial over the brutal murder of his girlfriend in May.

50 year old Leicester resident was convicted at Leicester Crown Court for the murder of Tarnjeet Riaz, also known as Tarnjeet Chagger.

The court ruled for a period of at least 21 years for Sidpara to be eligible for parole.

The victim was found dead with serious injuries

Notably, the couple had been together for about five months before the horrific incident.

Emergency services were called to Sidpara’s home on Tarbat Road on May 6; here Riaz was found dead with severe facial injuries and several broken ribs.

The court was told Riaz had “two huge black eyes”, a brain haemorrhage and 20 rib fractures.

Sidpara’s alcohol addiction and criminal history

Sidpara previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter in October but denied intending to kill or cause serious harm.

Judge William Harbage criticized Sidpara for refusing to explain his actions, describing them as “savage and cruel”.

The court also heard Sidpara was diagnosed with alcohol dependence syndrome and had a record of 24 convictions for 46 offences, including threats to kill and harassment.
