Firefighters battle a two-alarm fire north of downtown

SAN ANTONIO – Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze just north of downtown Thursday night.

The fire started near the 1800 block of McCullough Avenue around 7 p.m.

Firefighters say they extinguished the main fire on McCullough Street, not far from San Antonio College, in about 20 minutes, according to the San Antonio Fire Department (SAFD). D.

Fire officials said more than 100 firefighters were called to the scene due to the size of the fire. It was feared that the fire would spread to the restaurant next door, but thankfully this did not happen. A neighbor described how he received a message and rushed home.

Fire officials said there have been reports of homeless activity in the area, but they could not confirm if there was any homeless activity tonight. No injuries were reported. As of now, the cause of the fire is being investigated.
